Popular TV actress Shilpa Shinde popularly known as Angoori Bhabi has been in trouble for a while. After an outpouring allegation game between Shinde and popular comedy show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai producer Binaifer Kohli, CINTAA issued a non-co-operative directive against the actress (which they later denied). Shinde who has been replaced by Shubhangi Atre as Angoori Bhabhi on the show, held a press conference yesterday about the controversy surrounding her abstruse exit from the show. The actress, along with former CINTAA member Arif Sheikh, alleged that CINTAA does not work in the best interest of the industry and hinted towards a nexus between the producers and the artistes’ association. Here are five shocking revelations that she made in the press conference – “CINTAA is an artists’ association but it doesn’t help us in any way…we had proposed that artists who do episodic shows, who do not do fixed daily soaps should be given their per day salary immediately, they should be given 300 rupees for conveyance. But, nothing of that sort is happening!…actors are in dire need of work and producers are taking advantage of this and CINTAA is not taking any action” said Shinde. “Producers these days ask that the lavish food that you get to eat at the sets,do you have the standard to have eaten that at your home ?…I had called up CINTAA and told them that artists don’t have proper make-up rooms, child artists are being mistreated. Producers keep the children and their parents waiting for long hours saying that you are living on your child’s salary…why didn’t CINTAA take action ? I had called them many times. I informed them that child artists are not being given food. Neither are they given time to study nor given make-up rooms. CINTAA never took my calls” said Shinde.#Former CINTAA member Arif Sheikh alleged that the committee charges Rs 35,000 as membership fees, which is Rs 5,000 more, as opposed to 30,000 which is the quoted in the contract.
Sheikh also added that CINTAA will be issuing a proposal in a meeting going to be held on 1st May which will restrict anyone and everyone from writing about CINTAA and its close associates on a public platform – be it social media, print media or electronic media. “They want us to be silent. They want us to suffer” said Sheikh. ”We have been protesting since 4 years. You are asking why didn’t we approach the presidents of the association – Om Puri, Johny Lever. Johny Lever Sir was the president at that point of time. We have had gone to him and his committee with our grievances. Do you know what they did ? They threw us out! He cancelled our membership!… They have been treating us like this since 4 years. Our only fault was that we stoop up and asked for our conveyance,we asked why aren’t we paid on time, we asked that why are we treated like animals and made to work for 18 hours ?…our grievances were never heard. Ajmal Kasab can get an advocate in India but not us!” said Sheikh.
